Algebra ll with Effi O'Neil
Semester Two:
Encyclopedia Project:
For this particular project, the goal was to be able to relate math concepts to the real world by finding specific examples. My section of the encyclopedia was on Conics and I contributed to a paper that previous students had already created. I added my definition of Conics as well as a particular example of Conics in the real world. Also, I wrote about certain skills that are necessary in order to learn Conics. I compiled my work so that it would flow smoothly with other student's past work. Each individual section was combined to create an encyclopedia that we displayed at exhibition.
I chose to this assignment as an "Added Math" project. The other students that contributed to the encyclopedia were non-juniors. I'm very proud of myself because I chose to take on this challenge among the other great amounts of work that I have been focusing on. Effi was very helpful when enabling me to be assisted in any way I needed. I enjoyed this project because it was really interesting to see crazy concepts like Conics relate to something like architecture or astronomy. I'm happy with the work I produced and I'm more confident with my mathematical skills now because I closely focused on a single topic.

Semester One:
Throughout the year I have been pushed to understand new concepts as well as old ones. I am very proud of the effort I have put into my projects, tests, and assignments in this class. The work that I am especially proud of this year is the Added Math that I chose to partake in and complete. I have to make time to teach myself the material and then do an assignment to show my understanding. While working on the chapter of Sequences and Series, I have learned how to define and use sequences and series, analyze arithmetic sequences and series, analyze geometric sequences and series, and to find sums of infinite geometric series. Because of this extra work, I have learned that I am capable of achieving something I thought may not be in reach. I have been very busy and stressed most of this semester but I still made time to do Added Math. I feel that I not only have a better understanding of complicated concepts, but I am also assured that time and dedication pay off!
