Geometry with Cathy Eagen
Slice Form Project Info. and Reflection: Semester two in Geometry was most definitely a struggle as I had a difficult time grasping many of the concepts. For the slice form project I partnered up with Chase Pierson and we created a slice form as well as a prism. Initially we struggled with what design to create because a block of cheese did not meet all the requirements and Rocky Mountains were too complicated! I suggested creating a little girl and we put that into action! We had to use equations to find the lateral surface area, total surface area, perimeter, volume, etc... Our dimensions were fairly exact so that part came easily to us.
I was very challenged in this project because prior to beginning the work, I was still quite confused with concepts. Because of this I had a difficult time with being completely frustrated and overwhelmed by the work. But through this project I learned that I work well with a partner but also by myself because I don't want to always rely on someone for a part of my grade and it goes both ways. I don't want them to feel responsible for making sure that I am on top of my work. This project was not my favorite but it wasn't terrible. I still wish that I had a better understanding of everything. However I am very proud of the final project because I know that I created it to the best of my ability. |

Rotations and Reflections:
The process I used in order to learn how to find the correct problem solving strategies for all of the above involved many steps. Each day in class we covered a specific problem and then had time to reflect back on what we had just covered. If we had a solid understanding, then we were able to move along. In order to be able to understand everything fully, I came to Cathy's office hours so that I could have more practice problems to make sure the content was making sense to me. I knew that the only way I would be able to learn what was necessary, was to stay focused in class and do all the homework. That way I could be sure that I was able to solve the strategies on my own.
