Ninth Grade Digital Arts with Ms. Roxy
Dystopian Poster: Beginning this project was very difficult for me considering that for the first half had absolutely NO idea what I would be Photoshopping. Then I had a moment of inspiration dealing with instant gratification! That is the theme of my poem I wrote in Humanities so I felt that money represented easy pleasure very well. My poster originally was very simple and not exciting! Thankfully Jake Pinkney stepped in and gave me some unique and helpful suggestions to improve my poster. If I had to redo this project I would spend more time fitting Henry Ford's head to the twenty dollar bill and also refining where the color touches black and white. Overall this project helped improve my Photoshop skills and gave me confidence in my abilities to create a piece art!

Pre-Historic Flash Animation Project:
Something that stood out to me in the Pre-Historic lecture was how most people interpreted the ca.ve art differently. It helped me realize that even in a daily situation, seeing things from a different perspective can help you understand other's views and opinions. The reason my animation is not uploaded to my DP is because I had an extremely long and frustrating proccess while creating "How The Floating Bison Came To Be". My first major problem occured when I made the document sizes incorrect. That ended up leading to many other minor but difficult problems. Ms. Roxy was such a great help and did everything she could to help me overcome these troubles. Although I was not able to fix all of the difficulties in the end. I'm not sure if I have a favorite part of Adobe Flash. One thing I did like about it was the ability to create any sort of animation including stop motion combined with hand drawn symbols. I did not do that in my animation but it's good to know! I can see myself using Flash again for creating things like a birthday card or even a future Humanities project for a specific unit. The Pre-Historic Flash Animation Project was definitely a learning experience!
Xtranormal Animation:
For this quick project we had to create an animation about any subject using this specific website. Some of the requirements we were asked to use were the cameras, motions, faces, look-ats, points, pauses and sounds. In this project I learned how animation is very time consuming and there are so many possibilities to what you could create. to what I decided to add humor to mine by having the actors be Oprah and Jesus.

Self Portrait: I created my self portrait through photoshop. The main effect used was the warp tool along with a hard light selection. This photo will be placed in downtown Durango along with a name tag where I wrote 'Riley Rifkin Self Portrait' in calligraphy.

Teacher/Animal Poster: One of my favorite things about this project was how we had freedom to choose which teacher's face we used and the animal to photoshop the face into. I think I was successful in this project because I often kept getting suggestions from peers about how I could improve in all areas of my poster. Something I would reccomend to an incoming freshman at Animas about this project, would be to have peers critique your work constantly so that it can be to the best of your ability. If I was to do this project again I would add more effects that aren't as noticable so that it would really come together even more.
In this project, we got to choose a staff's school picture to photoshop into a body of some type. I chose Mr. Heerschap's face and put it into a cat's body. Then I added the red yarn just to have another object and placed the cat on the beach. Something I really like about my poster is how my name is placed on the staircase of the sand castle. |

Understanding Light: Hard light comes from a light source that is apparently small. It has a high contrast and usually hard edge shadows. Soft light is the opposite because it has very low contrast, hardly any shadow and comes from a light source that is very large. The last two two types of light are transmitted light and reflected light. With transmitted light, you can see the light source in the picture and in reflected light, the light is bouncing off of a surface.
